Benefits of joining UI SHRM Chapter
The beneifts for joining the UI SHRM Chapter are endless. Every semester we go visit corporations to see what is expected of HR Professionals. In many instances students are able to apply what they are learning in the classroom to the corporations we visit. Previous trips include Seattle,WA, Portland, OR, Boise, ID, and Couer D'alene, ID. We visit various industries that are suggested by club members.

Industry Trips
In Fall 2015 UI SHRM visited Alaska Airlines and Seattle Times! Seeing how a large HR department and small department runs showed us what is expected of us as HR Professionals.
Professional Development
Learning occurs at all stages of life, this semester our V.P. of Promotions gave a seminar on how to create compelling Linkedin page and interview worthy resume.
Professionals have also come and presented about how to manage financial benefits for employees getting ready to retire along with learning how to manage international benefits and how benefits are not a one package meets all needs.
Hands on Learning
This year our adviser Jan Rauk, set up a hands on learning experience where HRM majors were able to work with Habitat for Humanity on creating and updating Volunteer Handbooks and creating Employee Policies that will be used in every day operations.
